While most cysts of this type require surgery, voice therapy is usually conducted first to determine if it is necessary. It will be known in approximately four to six weeks what further course of action may be required.

Said Meat Loaf, “It really breaks my heart not to be able to perform these shows. I was really looking forward to capping off a great year and celebrating the start of the holidays with the fans. But I have to do what the doctors tell me so I can look forward to healing and coming back strong in 2008. Let me dispel any rumors before they start – I will be back.”

MEAT LOAF HAS FANS WANTING SECONDS
By DAVID MALACHOWSKI, Special to the Times Union

SARATOGA SPRINGS -- The former Marvin Lee Aday, aka Meat Loaf, brought his "Bat Out Of Hell III: Three Bats Tour" to SPAC Sunday night for an over-the-top show that had his hard-core fans in heaven.

Bat Out of Hell Three? Did we miss Bat Out Of Hell Two? (No, that was a few years ago)
The 59-year-old Dallas native's career had included musical theater, film and stints in bands before he teamed up with composer Jim Steinman for 1977's "Bat Out Of Hell" (produced by Todd Rundgren), which was a runaway smash hit.
At SPAC, the somewhat svelte Meat Loaf (down from his 300-pound heyday) had short hair, but otherwise looked the same. After the ...Full Story

SINGER, ACTOR, PERFORMER: MEAT LOAF DEFINES HIMSELF ONSTAGE
By MARK McGUIRE, Senior writer

Marvin Lee Aday can also go by the name Michael. You can call him a performer as well, or an actor, rocker or classic frontman.

Most call him Meat Loaf.
What does he call himself? A better question is, what doesn't he call himself.
"Well, I don't view myself as a singer, so we can start there," he said. (Notice the pronoun, which avoids The New York Times conundrum of referring to him as Mr. Loaf on second reference.)
"Aretha Franklin is a singer," he continued. "Steve Perry from Journey was a singer. Steven Tyler (of Aerosmith) is a singer. Freddie Mercury (of Queen) was a singer. They're singers. ... It's just like they're born to sing.

Bat man belts them out

Meat Loaf, Odyssey Arena, Belfast
Friday, June 01, 2007
By Damien Murray

As part of his Seize The Night World Tour, featuring songs from Bats I, II & III, the 'mighty one' hit town again last night like the proverbial 'Bat Out Of Hell'.

The Texan, with a voice as strong as ever, provided an amazingly entertaining show that was big on lights, sound, musicianship, showmanship and - running to almost three hours - was also big on value for money for the capacity audience.

The new, slimmer-cut Loaf may have lost some weight, but this musical heavyweight proved that he hadn't lost his theatricality or his massive appeal.

BIG is Meat Loaf's trademark in just about every respect. Bat Out of Hell remains one of the highest selling albums of all time, with 37 million units shifted worldwide. His movie career includes memorable appearances in blockbusters like The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Fight Club. And he's still not sporting anything less than an XXL waistline.

Naturally Meat needs a live show to match, and Bat Out Of Hell III: Seize The Night is just that: a sprawling 150 minute epic, replete with eight-piece band, jets of fire, scantily clad women, and lashings of finger shredding guitar virtuosity.

At its most exuberant the show was some spectacle. ...Full Story

MEAT LOAF @ NEC 4/5 STARS!
By Andy Coleman, Birmingham Mail

THE NEC went completely batty last night.

Larger than life singer Meat Loaf marked the 30th anniversary of the release of his Bat Out Of Hell masterpiece by returning to the stage four years after announcing his retirement from touring.

He says it was the recording of Bat Out Of Hell III last year that prompted the comeback - so last night's show, part of a UK tour, was dedicated to the three Bat albums.

The first half of the two and a half hour show featured tracks from the original album and its follow-up, released in 1993.

But a surprise awaited the sold-out crowd as the 59-year-old singer bounded on stage for opening song, Paradise By The Dashboard ...Full Story

MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS REVIEW OF MEAT LOAF @ M.E.N. ARENA
by Gary Ryan

You have to credit Meat Loaf with one thing – and that’s dogged resilience.

During his career, the man known to his parents as “Michael” has survived events that would topple mere mortals, including bankruptcy, legal wrangles with Bat Out Of Hell svegali Jim Steinman, collapsing onstage (“Tiiiiimber!”) and – perhaps most remarkably of all – appearing as the bus driver in the Spice Girls movie.

Yet here he is, in front of the teeming hanger-like Arena, giving a brilliantly idiosyncratic and er, sweaty performance. Indeed, just one Meat Loaf gig could supply a Third World village with fresh water for a week – such is the amount of perspiration gushing off him.

Celebrities are the General Managers of their teams and “own” NBA players, collecting points based on their players’ real-life performances. Celebs are playing each other based on head-to-head scoring, a particular category of fantasy scoring which schedules teams to “play” each other over the course of a week. Said Meat Loaf, “Being able to perform for my fans is the most important thing in the world to me. Over the years, I’ve gone on stage with a broken foot and an arrhythmic heart but only Beethoven could perform without being able to hear. It was devastating having to come off stage in Boca after only three songs but over the years, I’ve reluctantly learned that I have to abide by what the doctors tell me to do.”

Jon Stoll, President of Fantasma Productions in Boca Raton said, “Most artists wouldn’t even have tried but Meat is a special artist who really cares about his fans. We look forward to having him back here on August 30th for a complete show that we know his fans will enjoy.”

MEAT LOAF MOVED BY NOVA SCOTIA TEEN
The Telegram (St. John's)
Westville, N.S. - From now on, whenever rock star Meat Loaf is on tour, he says will keep a small framed picture of a Nova Scotia teen in his dressing room.

That's what Meat Loaf, best known for his album "Bat Out of Hell," told Matthew Castonguay after they met at his recent concert in Toronto.

Castonguay, a 19-year-old with Down syndrome who made local headlines in January when his vehicle was stolen from his parents' driveway, was thrilled to meet the singer he has idolized since childhood.

When Castonguay gave Meat Loaf his high-school picture backstage, brother Robert Castonguay said the rock star was touched.

Castonguay was mesmerized at his first concert, his older brother said.

"He was wowed at the lights, the sounds. He was wowed just by the experience," said Robert Castonguay, who attended the concert with his brother.

Castonguay received the tickets as a gift after Marc Perry, the sales and promotion representative for EMI, pulled some strings.

Perry wanted to help the teen after he heard of his troubles with his vehicle, which was stolen from his parents' driveway. The car represented independence for Castonguay, and although he couldn't drive it himself, family and friends were happy to chauffeur him around town.

Seated in his living room in Westville, about 15 kilometres southeast of New Glasgow, a week after the concert, Castonguay eagerly showed off his keepsakes from the show - signed posters, T-shirts, pictures.

With the help of his mother, Karen Castonguay, who served as a translator, Castonguay said he was "excited to meet (his idol)." But the soft-spoken teen didn't say much more.

His brother said he was nervous at first, but soon he was joking with the star and making small talk.
"Matthew was a little taken back at first because he didn't know he was actually going to get to meet Meat Loaf. But after that surprise he was just really happy more than anything."

Meat's live performances continue to dazzle everyone! Check out the latest:

“****” (out of 4) -The Independent
(Royal Albert Hall Performance)

“[Meat Loaf] didn’t stray from the “Bat” flight path once during this two-hour performance during which he offered up all of the bombast, affectation and unreconstructed lung power he’s come to embody over the years.”
– Daily Variety (New York Broadway Performance)

“… two hours of over-the-top power pop that blended the best of the ‘Bat Out of Hell’ trilogy…” – New York Post (New York Broadway Performance)

“…the Bat franchise shows no sign of abating.” – The Independent
(Royal Albert Hall Performance)

“…the packed house was engulfed in Meat Loaf frenzy shouting at lyrics, clapping to the stentorian rhythms…” – The Toronto Star (Elgin Theater Performance)

“…Meat Loaf’s still hot…he had the fans in the palms of his hands.” The Toronto Sun (Toronto / Elgin Theater Performance)

"**** "(four stars) – The Guardian (London/Royal Albert Hall Performance)

“His musical vehemence was believable, and the theatrical qualities of Bat on Broadway were riveting.”
– New York Post (New York Broadway Performance)

“And a mighty show it was… Meat Loaf’s pleasantly powerful tenor voicve soared above the massive hard rock band driven by two killer guitarists and a drummer who played like Zues on Bender.” – The Toronto Star (Elgin Theater Performance)

“…one of rock’s most potent brands.” – The Independent

BAT III BUILDS MOMENTUM!

NEW YORK – November 8, 2006 – Culminating thirteen years of pent-up demand, MEAT LOAF’s BAT OUT OF HELL III: The Monster is Loose, crashed into the Billboard Top 200 national album sales chart at No. 8. The album, the epic third installment of rock’s greatest franchise, was also released throughout Europe last week, racking up a trail of chart-busting sales statistics: it entered national charts as the No. 2-selling album in Germany and holds it’s position this week, No. 3 in the UK, No. 3 in Canada, No. 4 in Switzerland, No. 5 in Austria, ...Full Story

BAT ON BROADWAY - NY POST REVIEW
NY Post
By DAN AQUILANTE

November 4, 2006 -- THERE'S nothing small in Meat Loaf's world - be it his XXL carriage, his booming voice or the huge 30-piece rock orchestra that backed him for his one-night stand at the Palace Theatre on Broadway.

Thursday's performance was better than any that Loaf's played in New York in the last decade. He was solid and consistent throughout the two hours of over-the-top power pop that blended the best of the "Bat Out of Hell" trilogy, completed earlier this week with the release of "Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose."

Despite the new tunes, Loaf took no chances with the concert opener - a one-two punch of his "All Revved Up With No Place to Go" that segued ...Full Story

ELGIN THEATER REVIEW
Toronto Sun
By: Bill Harris

No one ever could describe Meat Loaf as undercooked.

He simmers. He sweats. He paces. He pounds his own head.

He pulls the hair of one of his guitarists, then head-butts the other. He is just plain loud.

So the question last night was whether the tiny, 1,500-seat Elgin Theatre in downtown Toronto would be big enough to contain the monster that is Meat Loaf as he performed selected and sequenced songs from his three Bat Out Of Hell albums.

Well, the aptly dubbed Bases Loaded extravaganza was quite an assault.

And while Meat Loaf and his band warmed up faster than the audience did, by the end he had the fans in the palms of his clammy hands.

MEAT VS. MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE
Edmonton Journal
By: Sandra Sperounes

Three cheers for Meat Loaf!

The portly rocker is back with not one, but two albums.

There's his effort, Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose.  Then, there's My Chemical Romance's third album, The Black Parade.

Meat Loaf doesn't appear on it, but the New Jersey punks turned to him -- and Queen -- for spiritual guidance as they were recording their rock opera about a cancer patient coping with the spectre of death.

Bombast reigns, harmonies abound, Brian May-style guitars and pianos ring out, while vocalist Gerard Way's delivery hovers between Meat Loaf's sincerity and Freddie Mercury's flamboyance.

Those conflicting moods shape the entire album. ...Full Story
